The Real Life? Is This Just Fantasy?
It's a good question,
isn't it? This question is the very core of what a L.A.R.P is.
Technically, L.A.R.P. stands for Live-Action Role-Playing [Game].
In truth, it goes far deeper than the simple definition. What
L.A.R.P.'s are really trying to do is to provide an escape from
reality, a way to exercise one's imagination, and a way to
interact with others without the artificial restrictions placed
on us as members of our mundane society.
There are two
parts to any L.A.R.P - the Live-Action, and the Role-Playing. The
roleplaying part is easy to understand. In essence, you pretend
to be someone else. It's something we've all done countless times
as children. But the first part, the most important part, the defining
part... is "Live-Action". This means that you actually
get to become that hero-for-a-day you've
always wanted to be. Or, conversely, you could become
the evil wizard, plotting to take over the world. You could even become
some sort of monster, terrorizing the good people of the land.
It's all up to the individual. The point of this is simple - you
don't just sit down in your comfortable chair and
pretend that you're a legendary hero, saving dragons
and slaying princesses (?)... you actually do
these things. You get dressed up in a costume, don some
(imitation) armor, and actually lift your (albeit padded) sword
to right the wrongs, oppress the peasants (shouldn't this be liberate?),
and generally get medieval on some of your friends (I mean
monsters...).
Live-Action
Role-Playing is an experience like no other, and Exile is a game
like no other. We offer a totally new and (mostly) unexplored
game world, six professions (more on the way), six schools of
magic (again, more on the way), MENTALISM talents, a complete
in-game economy, and some of the best storylines in the
